In order to get a better networking performance, Windows server 2008 has been widely used. Among factors that influence computer performance, Hard Disk Management is a decisive one. When space in certain partition is insufficient, it is necessary to repartition hard disk to insure normality of data storage.
One advantage of Windows server 2008 build-in Disk Management is that it supports extending partitions on basic disk. The administrator can extend partition by adding un-allocated space right after it. This is rather useful especially when system partition is full. But there are also disadvantages about extending partition under Windows Server 2008 Disk Management that the un-allocated space need reserved and right after the partition needed extending. Beside, it is not possible for administrators to shrink partition size or move partition.
Once the hard disc problem is tough, the administrator need to remove files to release more free space. For example, low disk space in system partition affects computer performance, so the administrator needs to remove files on it. This is helpful, but temporary, because the volume of hard disk is vested, but data will increase along with operation of computer. So, guaranteed third-party software is better. With reasonable cost, administrators can save a lot of time and easily handle all operations extending and shrinking partitions without worry about data loss.
Hard disc repartition is a good solution to solve insufficient space on hard disk. The administrator will feel clearly that the server computer performance improved after repartition. Thus, it is good for server users to maintain hard disc with both Windows Disk Management and disk utilities.
